Exercise 1: Web Analysis

    For our first week, we were tasked with choosing and analyzing five websites from the links given:

• Awwwards;
• Site Of The Day;
• The FWA; and
• The Webby Awards.

    In this task, we need to carefully review the selected websites and write a report summarizing each web analysis in not less than 200 words. Things we need to consider in evaluating them include their purpose and goal, content, functionality, performance, design, and layout. We will then be able to identify their strength and weaknesses, along with how they impact user experience. 

Website #1 - 100 Lost Species by Immersive Garden and 60fps

• Purpose and Goal

    The 100 Lost Species is a digital memorial focusing on lost species and extinction awareness. It aims to raise public awareness on conservation issues by sharing stories of the extinct species through an immersive, educational experience. 

• Content

    I think the information given on the website is greatly relevant to its purpose in raising awareness. It also provides links directly to several animal protection organizations.

• Design and Layout

    Design is minimalist. With the main page having a white background, putting emphasis on the gallery of images of the extinct species, it's akin to a real gallery or museum. The three navigation bars on the top left are sleek, each of them. Every 100 seconds, the page will get blurry/frosted and will be redirected to this page (Fig. 1.1), which forces you to click into any of the organization. I think the colors are 

 

 

• Functionality and Performance

    The sensitivity of the scrolling part, personally, is a bit dragging to me. 

• Strengths and Weaknesses

Website #2: Gelato La Boca by Matchbox Studio

    Gelato La Boca is an Argentinian gelato brand that is passionately introducing itself in the American market.
